ORIGIN OF CAR FIRE

Press Association >

AUCKLAND. Dec. 10.

. Fire officers have traced the origin of a blaze which gutted a stationary car at Pukekohe on Wednesday, causing the death of two

three-year-old boys and badly burning one other child. The chief fire officer for Pukekohe, Mr N. R. Ingle, s.-id investigations showed that the children had been playing with matches which had ignited paper and upholstery in the back of the car.

He warned that children left in cars were a hazard to themselves. Matches and flammable materials should not be left in vehicles and parents should keep an eye on summer clothing. Paul Jodi Grey, aged three, of Freyberg Crescent, Pukekohe. died in the Auckland Hospital where his two-year-old brother, Jeremy Daniel Grey, was still seriously ill last night. The third child was Ley Roy Matthews, of Lucky Comer, Pukekohe. who died in the blaze.
