Double for young sire

Apanui (Ribotlight Handicap) and Classic Legend (Trial Plate No. 1) gave their young imported sire, Greek God, a double for the Hororata Racing Club’s meeting on Saturday. Apanui lasted for a half-head victory over Shudup, which ran greenly for a time but closed strongly Inside the final furlong. Classic Legend gave the Wingatui jockey. J. R. Dowling, his first of three wins for the day when he beat 17 rivals in the first Trial Plate. Classic Legend was bought by Messrs R. D. Molyneux and R. P. Nyhan at auction and shapes as if he wiU make a substantial return on their outlay. His only challenger on Saturday was the Wlngatui-trained Mellltion, which was favourite. Rider lost iron Fountain King lost several lengths at the start of the H. A. Knight Memorial Hack Handicap at Riccarton on Saturday when he knuckled over. His rider, D. Sanderson, lost a stirrup iron and was unable to regain it for about a furlong and a half.
