Swiss move on inflation

(N.Z.P.A.-Reuter —Copyright) BERNE, Dec. 7. The Swiss Government has announced proposals to control inflation which include a price supervision clause, but stop short of a wages and prices freeze. Explaining the proposals, the Minister of Economics (Mr Ernest Brugger) told a press conference that the country’s inflation was now running at 6 per cent. The measures, aimed at reducing the money supply and the volume of credit, are expected to be the subject of voting in both Houses of Parliament later this month. The proposed measures cover price supervision, credit restrictions, minimum bank reserve requirements, and control of loan issues, the financing of exports and limitations on tax depreciation.
