Tame finish to match (N.Z.P.A.-Reuter—Copyright) HYDERABAD. The M.C.Q’s opening ! tour match, against the Indian Cricket Board President’s XI, ended in a tame draw yesterday. The M.C.C. captain, A. J. Lewis, declared as soon as his side had gained a first innings lead after lunch on the final day, with the total at 321 for seven in reply to the President Xi’s 317 for five. The home side was 84 for two after a rain-interrupted final session. Minor injuries prevented the M.C.C. pace bowlers, C. M. Old and R. M. Cottam, from taking the field for the President Xi’s second innings. But the makeshift pair, A. W. Greig and G. R. Roope, sent back both opening batsmen for only eight runs. Greig struck with the second ball of the innings, which nipped back from outside the off stump to dismiss the test batsman, Sunil Navaskar, leg-before for nought, and Roope dismissed Ramnath Parkar, also leg before. Chetan Chauhan and G. Ri Viswanath then came to-i gether and prevented aij; v further break-through. Greig (41) and R. W. Tolchard (37 not out) provided the highlight of the M.C.C. batting yesterday with a 56-run, sixth-wicket stand. Scores: President’s XI 317/5 declared and 84/2, M.C.C. 321/7 declared.

Rugby.—The senior club sides in the Horowhenua and Manawatu Rugby competitions will in future combine to play one competition round. The new interunion club competition starts next year and Involves teams at senior level.
