Sentence on Mouse

(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Dec. 8. The Parliamentary candidate Mickey Mouse was given a 12-month suspended sentence in the Magistrate’s Court today when he appeared on charges of using obscene language, disorderly behaviour, and obstructing a policeman. Mouse, a 20-year-old unemployed fisherman who changed his name from Chris Lawrence to contest the recent General Election, had earlier pleaded guilty to the charges, which followed a demonstration in Parliament House grounds. Mouse’s brother, Mathew Robert Lawrence, was also ordered to come up for sentence within 12 months if called up—for assaulting a constable and using obscene language.
