Christmas trees “Imported” Christmas trees may be anything but a symbol of good will if they are infested with a fungus disease, Dothistroma pini. The disease is known in the South Island, except for Canterbury and Otago-South-land, and in most parts of the North Island. The Forest i Service warns that it is an offence to bring pines, larch and Douglas fir from infected districts into clear ones. There is no restriction on the movement of trees in the infected districts.
