Chaplain to the Dutch
A Jesuit priest from Holland, Father Felix Tonino, has been appointed chaplain to the Roman Catholic Dutch community in Christchurch. Father Tonino has for the last 13 years been running boys’ clubs in Amsterdam. He has also served as a military chaplain and chaplain to the diplomatic community at the Hague. His new work will be among about 500 Catholic families in the Christchurch diocese, which includes parts of the West Coast, Ashburton, Timaru and north to Kaikoura. Father Tonino has taken residence at Holy Name Seminary with the Jesuit priests who staff the college. On December 20 at the seminary he will have a Mass and social gathering for Dutch people beginning at 7.30 pun.
