Rhodesia
Sir, —When are you going to publish both sides of the situation in Rhodesia? Over the last two weeks you have published a slanted report from a well-known left-wing reporter, who, for some incredible reason, is permitted to remain in Rhodesia. Today a misleading and slanted editorial, Just on five days ago you suppressed a pro-Rhode-sian statement by a group of very responsible churchmen. Why do you not tell your readers that a pass system is vital in Rhodesia, in order to control the swarms of illegal immigrants from black-ruled Africa, who, if allowed into Rhodesia, would cause unemployment and intensify the task of the Government? As it is, the white population have an immense job of finding work and schools and homes, etc., for their own black population. Rhodesia has the problem of facing sanctions, although in the main these have been a failure; also a rapidly growing population, thanks to a firstclass medical service and the maintenance of law and order.—Yours, etc., THE WALRUS. December 5, 1972.
