Sir, —In reply to “R.H.” concerning “useless military training,” I did omit that intentionally, for the reason that, if Mr Kirk acts on his statement that he would send a frigate into the French nuclear zone, we may be glad to have some trained men. But did he say that he would accompany that vessel? Also I would ask: would the same Mr Kirk send a platoon of infantry (comparable with a torpedo boat) into the Russian nuclear zone?
