N.Z. invention

World-wide export sales are expected from a New Zealand farming invention which is claimed to revolutionise stock drenching. A new paste drench gun for dosing sheep, cattle and other farm animals against internal parasites has been developed by Merck Sharp and Dohme (N.Z.), Ltd. The marketing director, Mr A. J. Graham, said the gun has been under development for several years and is aimed at reducing farmers* time and increasing animal accept-

ance rates over conventional liquid drenching. A particular advantage is the complete elimination of carcase damage caused by injection methods. Both the gun and a new range of paste drenches have undergone field trials throughout New Zealand for the last two years, said Mr Graham. “Paste drenching accelerated the operation by up to 50 per cent in the trials,” he said. Marketing of the new paste gun invention in New Zealand and overseas is expected to begin almost immediately.
