Ari might improve
“The Press” Special Service PALMERSTON NORTH.
Ari and Battle Fund ran the best gallops at Awapuni yesterday in preparation for the Otakl meeting tomorrow. Ari has been racing below his best yet there was nothing wrong with his work. He beat Warren’s Joy over five furlongs on the course proper in Imin 3 2-ssec, the last three in 37 2-5 sec.
On the plough Battle Fund ran on to beat Michael Thomas, with Maintain beaten off, at the end of a mile in Imln 45 3-5, the last three in 41 3-ssec. Battle Fund’s was a good trial for the highweight at Otaki.
Artemesia beat Prince of Darkness by a wide margin over half a mile in 51sec, the final three in 38 3-ssec. Artemesia will be hard to beat at Otaki.
Turfman Is not without a chance at Otaki. He ran six furlongs in Imin 21 2-ssec. the last three in 41 2-ssec. Parahelle went with him but shattered a pastern near the finish and had to be destroyed.
