Pit Stops
Lancia now leads the manufacturers world rally championship as a result of its works cars taking first and second places in the San Remo International Rally. A series of races for cars conforming to "Mini Seven" saloon - racing regulations will be spon--sored by N. P. Croft, Ltd, the manufacturers of “Plastibond" and “Plastiflex.” The first round was held at Levin on December 2, and other races will be announced later. Drivers must be members of the
Mini Seven Association, and their cars must be basically 850 c.c. Minis. Modifications permitted are strictly limited. The new British “total mobility" tyres, which enable drivers to keep control of a vehicle even after a blowout at 100 m.p.h., and then travel up to 100 miles at 50 m.p.h. were fitted to at least two entries in the British R.A.C. international rally. Chrysler is officially returning to motor sport in Britain with a team of Hillman Avengers, which will compete in both races and rallies. The British company is enlarging its competition centre and setting up a new special tuning section.
