New time-table for buses
Christchurch Transport Board buses will run to a new time-table on Monday, with a number of services reduced or eliminated, and some routes making different connections in Cathedral Square.
Instead of a FendaltonOpawa run, it will be Fendal-ton-New Brighton; instead of being Mays Road-New Brighton it will be WainohiMays Road; and the Opawa run will couple with the run to Marshland Road.
The general manager of the board (Mr J. F. Fardell) said yesterday that decreased patronage showed that some reduction in services was warranted on week days. On most routes, changes had been kept to a minimum. Reductions had been made on the number of runs from noon until 3 p.m., between 6 p.m. and 7.45 p.m., and after 10 pjn. The frequency of Saturday services after noon on all major routes has been reduced except on the Templeton and Springs Road runs; and on the North BeachShirley route the 10.55 p.m. bus to Shirley has been discontinued.
There will be no Saturday buses to Bromley, Avonside, or Huntsbury. Trips to Mount Pleasant after 1.30 p.m. and Mays Road after 7.30 p.m. have been deleted. There will be no changes in Sunday services. The new time-table is now on sale. Buses will carry notices outlining the changes.
