Arahanga to begin run
(N.Z. Press Association)
WELLINGTON, Dec. 7.
The Railways’ new s9m ferry, Arahanga, will begin regular Wellington-Picton services tomorrow.
The link-span at Picton was adjusted after berthing problems on the test run; wooden packing was taken from behind the rubber buffers.
The Arahanga, the third of the rail ferries, will run 12 round trips a week and carry 50 containers on each. The Aranui and Aramoana run 25 trips a week between them and each carries 30 containers.
