N.Z. couple wins event

(N.Z.P.A. Staff Correspondent) LONDON. Dec. 5. The New Zealand ballroom dancing champions, Peter and Wendy Smith have won first place at the international dancing competition in Boblingen, west Germany. They beat the much-favoured English champions, Gary Richardson and Susan Pedvin. “This is our best result yet,” said Peter Smith. “The standard set by English ballroom dancing is the highest in the world.” - The results in the ninedance competition were worked out over both Latin American and ballroom dancing events. Second place was won by a German couple, Walter and Carola Hofken, with the English champions third. The next international event for the Smiths is a contest at Dusseldorf on December 9. They have been living in England for the last 18 months, dancing regularly in competitions.
