Competition for mural
Quentin MacFarlane, of Christchurch, is one of five major New Zealand artists invited to submit mural designs for a $3OOO commission in the Hamilton Founders Memorial Theatre. The others are Ralph Hotere, of Dunedin, Colin McCahon, of Auckland, Para Matchitt, of Hamilton, and Ray Thorbum, of Palmerston North. A spokesman for the judging panel, Mr E. L. Gilchrist, said the designs would be considered in February. The mural, which will: occupy a space designed for it in the theatre’s foyer, is to be finished late in 1973.
