Tunnel liners stop work
Forty men stopped work on tunnel relining at the Lake Coleridge hydro - electric power station yesterday afternoon, and will not return to work until Monday afternoon. Two men loading concrete mixers complained about dusty conditions to the project engineer (Mr A. McDonald). Mr McDonald said that there had been a general agreement on all contingencies and rates on the job when it was started about two months ago. The secretary of the Labourers’ Union based in Christchurch. also a Mr A. McDonald, will travel to Lake Coleridge to represent the workers on Monday.
