Staff medical check urged
(N.Z. Press Association)
AUCKLAND, Nov. 24. More companies should be offering senior staff free medical check-ups, said Mr D. F. Walker, manager for New Zealand for the A.M.P. Society, at a national symposium on executives’ health. “As the pace of business in New Zealand quickens to meet expanding and changing markets, technological advances, and many other challenges, executives are running the risk of suffering from tension, rising blood pressure, heart disease, ulcers and gastric disorders,” he said. His company, for some years, had paid for periodic checks on senior staff. In the last 12 months these had made two senior officers aware of serious illnesses they did not know they were suffering from. They had been cured and were now back in regular employment.
