NATIONAL CHECKER OF THE YEAR The national checker of the year final was held on Monday night in the new Town Hall, and was the first occasion the final had been held in Christchurch. The contestants comprised the area winners and run-ner-ups from Auckland, Wellington, Canterbury and Otago-Southland. Competitors are tested on speed, accuracy, and their attitude towards the customers. The winner received a trip to Australia and $l5O cash. The runner-up received a cheque for $lOO.
