Inter-island stroke play
The first inter-island golf match will be played at Shirley late in August next year. This event, with teams of six, will be before the 1973 Freyberg Rose Bowl tournament at Russley. The council of the New Zealand Golf Association has decided that the match will be decided by 36-hole stroke play, on a Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning, and that the best five scores for each team in each round should count.
