Trading dull on all sectors in Sydney

Trading was dull on all sectors of the Sydney exchange yesterday. Mining issues showed some improvement towards the end of the day, and gains for brewers and losses by retailers featured on the industrial board. Oils were little traded but some easing was apparent.

Roebourne was steady at 270 c and Bougainville was 3c down at 242 c. Western Mining also lost 3c at 303 c.

M.I.M. was down 2c at 300 c Broken Hill South 5c at 270 c and C.R.A. 6c at 640 c. Poseidon rose 5c to 1005 c and Peko-Wallsend 10c to 990 c. The industrial sector was generally steady with minor losses and gains about balancing one another, but retailers were down as a group. David Jones fell 4c to 191 c, Myer slipped 3c at 285 c, Waltons was down 2c at 246 c and Woolworths and Coles

each lost 1c at 123 c and 164 c respectively. Brewers were steady to stronger over-all. To'oheys gained 5c at 305 c and Tooths rose 4c at 405 c.

8.H.P., steady on 1095 c at the close, set the trend for most of the leading stocks. Ampol fell 1c to 124 c and Endeavour 1c to 19c in sluggish trading.
