SUPREME COURT Acquittal on rape charge
After a retirement of two hours and a half a jury in the Supreme Court yesterday found William Ernest Blake, aged 38, a taxi driver, not guilty on a charge of rape of a woman, aged 39, on August 24. Mr Justice Haslam discharged Blake. Mr A. D. Holland appeared for the Crown and Messrs J. G. Leggat and I. J. D. Hall for Blake, who pleaded not guilty. The trial began on Monday. The Crown case was that the alleged offence took place in a car on the main West Road one mile west of Paparua Prison in the early hmirs Anomaf
