MADRIGAL CHOIR
One of the world’s finest madrigal choirs, the Willhelm’s University Student Madrigal Choir, from the West German city of Munster will visit New Zealand next year. The choir will appear in Christchurch, Auckland and Wellington in mid-March The visit is sponsored by New Zealand universities. In Christchurch 'the choir will give two recitals—one at lunch-time and one in the evening—but dates are not yet settled. The recitals will probably be in the University Hall. Founded just after the Second World War by female musical director Henna Kramm, the choir has toured many parts of the world. It is financially supported by the city of Munster, the university from which the members are drawn, and the Ministry of Culture of Westphalia and the Northern Rhine. Mixed and with some 50 members, the choir performs a wide repertoire, ranging from madrigals of the preBaroque to modem works and European and Non-Euro-pean folk songs. The choir will tour New Zealand for a little over a week. The singers will be billeted with university students.
