FENCE HOLED
Shot fired from 6 tov’ f.TZ Preti XssociattonA NEW PLYMOUTH, Nov. 6. A model cannon made in • school metalwork class gave a New Plymouth man a fright at the week-end. Mr A. Maketoni was working in his garden when something smashed through a cor-' rugated iron fence, whistled over his head and crashed into the nearby wall of his house. It had been fired from a model cannon held in the hand of a secondary-school; pupil standing about 100 yards away, behind the fence. The schoolboy had made the heavy metal cannon, with a barrel about Bin long, dur-; ing metalwork classes at the New Plymouth Boys’ High School. Mr Maketoni said the ; cannon had been loaded with fireworks and detonated by a fuse inserted near the butt., The schoolboy apologised, and Mr Maketoni decided against making a complaint to the police. However, he took the model from the boy. I
