More than 200 entries in game

With more than four weeks to go before closing date, more than 200 teams have put in entries for the National Management Game, 1973.

Last year there were only 80 entries up to three weeks from the closing date, and the organisers had some doubts whether 200 entries would be achieved. Finally the game was played by 360 teams, and some had to be turned away. “Company secretaries are used to paying their tax on the latest permissible day,” said a spokesman for the organisers. “There is usually a last-minute rush with this sort of thing.” The organisers are confidently expecting last year’s number of players to be exceeded. A breakdown by area of the firm entries so far is: Auckland, 110 teams; Auckland province, 33; Wellington and province, 49; South Island, 17. Of the South Island entrants half come from Christchurch (8), four from Invercargill, three from Dunedin, and one each from Ashburton and Nelson. The South Island Battlers have again entered the fray, and they have been joined by such colourful enterprises as Untangle, Instinct Alone, Hokonui Enterprises, Ltd, and Buy, Bargain and Sell. Polymaths Incorporated is an outfit obviously run by

high-powered technocrats while Nelson Products, Ltd could be any firm in the Nel son province. Caram Corporation am Snikdur Associates are per haps not quite so hard ti guess, but what to make o Sadsac Syndicate, or Stuart Burger Bar? And participants had bet ter beware of Panther, sneak ing through the jungle, read; to pounce.
