Hagley Trophy
Polo matches will be > played in the ring on all three days of the Royal Show this week. This year the North Island will be ’ represented by a team from the Rangitikei. It will com- j prise J. McKelvie, captain i (handicap 4), P. Grace (2), i and I. Gould (0). The southern team will comprise Messrs E. O’Sullivan (2), P. South (1), and J. Askin (2), who play for Ashburton. The three-match series carries the Hagley Trophy, and the south held it against strong northern op-: position in 1968 and 1969. ‘ However, the northerners I won it in 1970 and again | last year to even the series. The polo programme will be: Wednesday 3.30 p.m., i Thursday 2.30 p.m., and Fri-1 day 2.30 p.m. Mr C. Levin : will again be the commentator, with Mr R. Bain, of Lobum, as assistant. Mr H. Wilson, who played here in 1965. will act as umpire.
