Posters taken
A General Election candidate spent most of yesterday looking for his campaign posters nailed to lamp-posts throughout hit and three other electorates —and then tearing them down. The posters, about 300 of them, were taken from the back of Mr R. J. Doak's car over the week-end and put up on Sunday night. Mr Doak is the National Party candidate for St Albans’. The posters were found on lamp - posts throughout the St Albans electorate and also in the Christchurch Central. Avon, and Papanui electorates. In many streets they were nailed to every post Mr Doak was not aware the posters had been removed from his car until he received a telephone call yesterday morning “My wife and I wasted a whole day of the campaign checking posts to remove the posters. We were well aware of the controls on this form of advertising as were ail of my campaign committee,” he said.
