SITUATION AT 8 P.M.
An intense, slow-moving anticyclone is centred east of New Zealand. A slow-moving front extends from the north Tasman Sea to North Westland and Canterbury’.
FORECASTS:
CANTERBURY.—Northerlies, fresh at times in exposed positions; rain about the Alps, some heavy falls likely in the afternoon; scattered light rain spreading to the coast south of Banks Peninsula; otherwise cloudy and warm. MARLBOROUGH.—NortherIy winds, strong in exposed places; cloudy, mild and humid; some patches of light rain about Cook Strait this morning, especially about the hills. NELSON.—North-easterlies, fresh at times; overcast and humid, with periods of mist and rain. BULLER and WESTLAND.—Northeasterlies, fresh at times; overcast and mild, with further- periods of mist or rain; rain persistent and at times heavy in southern Buller and northern Westland. OUTLOOK.—Rain.
