Good score by Shadlock

(N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND. P. A. Shadlock, the unattached Auckland professional golfer, set a course record while winning the $5OO Drysdale Ales pro-am. tournament at the Maungakiekie course yesterday. Shadlock had seven birdies and dropped only one stroke for a 65 in the morning, and then had a par 71 in the afternoon to hold off a couple of challengers. Shadlock could not collect the prize-money because his probationary year ends in January. L. Brown, a Scottish-born professional who recently resigned from Wanganui, had a 66 in the morning. He took the major prize-money, with F. A. Malloy (Maungakiekie) third. Shadlock also was the equal top-scorer in the $5OO pro-am. tournament at Maramarua on Saturday. Both he and J. Croskery (Grange) scored four-under-par 68s. Next were S. Adams (Titirangi) on 70, and D. Clark (Hokowhitu) on 71. Leading scores at Maungakiekie:— 136—Shadlock. 65. 71, 138— Brown, 66, 72. 139— Malloy, 68. 71. 140— G. Holst, 71, 69. 141— W. Mclntosh (leading amateur), 72, 69.
