Housing for elderly
(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Nov. 3. Loans of up to $3OOO were now available through the State Advances Corporation to people needing to provide accommodation for elderly or dependent relatives, said the Minister in charge of the corporation (Mr Holland). The loan was an extension of the corporation’s lending policy regarding the availability of finance to families needing to provide accommodation of this type, he said. “Accommodation needs under the new extension vary considerably from the provision of a single room addition to a small self-contained detached flat,” he said. Previously loans of this type had been available only to those able to offer first mortgage security, but the widened assistance would be available on second or subsequent mortgages where there was a need to house elderly relatives.
