‘Broodmare of Year'

The Wellington-owned Angelet is thoroughbred “Broodmare of the Year" for the 1971-72 season The selection of Angelet was confirmed today by councillors of the Toroughbred Breedet s’ Association, which makes the award. The selection panel chose Angelet from a short list winch also included Silver Knight's dam. Cuban Fox, Mississippi ithe dam of Topsyl. and Tehrana .the dam of Sheralee). Angelet, a 16-year-old chestnut, is owned by her breeder. Mr J. A. Higgs. Angelet was injured as a youngster and the little racing she did was unsuccessful, but she had been a consistent producer. Her first foal was the outstanding 1962 mare, Min Flicka. which won 10 races from five furlongs to a milt and more than $13.000.
