Pankhurst is fit
The Wingatul trainer jockey, J. D Pankhurst, wIU be fit to ride in the New Zealand Cup at Riccarton today. Pankhurst attended hospital in Christchurch on Thursday for the removal of fluid from behind his spleen, and felt fit after riding work at Riccarton yesterday. He scratched Syndawick, a member of his stable, from the Welcome Stakes yesterday and will ride Dandyman, another Otago two-year-old. in the $3OOO five furlong race. He has been engaged for Royal Rhyme in the Hagley Handicap. D. H. Harris, who had to decide between the stablemates, Bompa and Kaukapakapa, in the Stewards’ Handicap, will ride Kaukapakapa.
