“Family unit often forgotten”

Organisations often forgot the family as a unit, Mrs Emma Grooby, national president of the Pan-Pacific and SouthEast Asia Women’s Association, said at the annual meeting of the association’s Christchurch branch on Thursday evening.

“How many husbands and how many sons and daughters do you ever see at your meetings? We have to give some thought to the future and involve our families — especially our young people — in what we are doing”. Mrs Grooby suggested a “family day” within the organisation, when members could bring families along. She also spoke on the

association’s programme for 1973. The most important item, she said, was a study of the host country for the 1975 international conference, Korea. “We should learn Korea’s culture, values and society structure before we go there and seek to truly understand them.” Also on the programme was a study of New Zealand, with particular emphasis on pollution and protection of the environment.
