Timaru in W.A.C.Y.
The latest New Zealand municipality to join W.A.C.Y. 2000 — World Association to Celebrate the Year 2000 — is Timaru. It becomes the tenth city or borough from New Zealand to accept the organisation's offer of free membership without obligation, although W.A.C.Y. plans that there should be a festive period covering the years 1995 to 2005. The organisation also asks its members to plant trees and make the world a better place in which to live. —London, Nov. 1.
