Wrestlers retire
Two world-ranked Russian freestyle wrestlers, A. Aliyev and Y. Shakhmuradov, recently announced their retirements from serious competition. However, both intend to continue their association with the sport. Aliyev, now a lecturer at the medical institute of Makhachkala, uses his spare time to pass on to youngsters the knowledge that won him five world championships. Shakhmuradov, also from Makhachkala, has become a professional coach. He was a world champion two years ago and gained four Russian and three European titles.
