APPLICATIONS are Invited to ffll a second Chair recently established in the Department of Law of the Research School of Social Sciences. The Department is concerned with research in depth into the structure and operation of legal systems, in particular the Australian, with emphasis on social relations, and the history and logic of the system rather than technical minutiae. Preference will be given to an applicant whose research interests do not duplicate those of the present head of the Department, Professor G. Sawer, in constitutional and administrative law. The normal salary for this position is $15,369 per annum Australian currency, superannuation is on the F.S.S.U. pattern with supplementary benefits. Gippsland Institute of Advanced Education (P.O. BOX 42, CHURCHILL, VICTORIA, AUSTRALIA, 3842) THE Gippsland Institute of Advanced Education, an autonomous tertiary institution affiliated with the Victoria Institute Colleges, is a new multi-purpose regional college of advanced education established to serve the rapidly growing educational needs of eastern Victoria. Located 100 miles east of Melbourne on a large, new .Site in rural surroundings at Churchill, the campus ajoins a complex of cities and towns and industrial enterprises in the Gippsland region. The Gippsland Institute is the only tertiary institution in eastern Victoria, and currently offers diploma courses in Engineering, Applied Chemistry, Art and Design, Business Studies and General Studies. The introduction of new programmes, including teacher education, are currently under consideration and degree programmes are being developed. School of Business and General Studies The School of Business and General Studies at present offers three-year full-time (or part-time equivalent) post matriculation programmes to internal students in Business Studies (Accounting) and General Studies (involving sequences in Sociology, Economics, English, Mathematics, Modem Government and Psychology). The Diploma of General Studies is also offered externally to part-time students to meet a strong demand for such courses, particularly from the teaching profession. The Institute will further develop its external studies programme during 1973. Applications are invited for the following positions in the School of Business and General Studies:

DEAN SCHOOL OF BUSINESS AND GENERAL STUDIES The Dean, as Head of School, will be responsible to the Director of the Institute for all aspects of the academic work of the School of Business and General Studies. These will include the planning and development of courses to first degree level and, where appropriate, for post-graduate qualifications. He will be responsible for the direction of academic staff, allocation of resources within the School and the planning of buildings and material facilities for the School. With the Director and other Heads of Schools and Divisions, he will play a leading part in the development, staffing, planning and administration of the Institute. The Institute is seeking applicants with social science/humanities qualifications, and/or commerce/ accounting qualifications. Applicants from either academic area will be considered, as the Council of the Institute may wish to eventually develop the School of Business and General Studies as two separate schools. Applicants should possess high level academic qualifications in an appropriate discipline and should have had significant senior level experience in tertiary education, commerce, industry, government or research. SALARY: (under review) $A12,864 per annum. Applications are also invited for the following positions from suitably qualified persons able to contribute to internal and external teaching in present diploma programmes and to the development and implementation of degree programmes. LECTURER IN MATHEMATICS With a specialisation in Numerical Analysis, including computer applications. LECTURER IN POLITICS With a particular interest in American Government, supported by interests in Political Sociology, Public Administration and/or International Relations. LECTURER IN PSYCHOLOGY With a primary interest in Development Psychology.
