(N.Z.P.A.-Reuter—Copyright) SINGAPORE, Nov. 2. A Singapore Opposition party leader has been sentenced to six months gaol for criminal defamation of President Benjamin Sheares. Leong Mun-kwai, secre-tary-general of the People’s Front, was found guilty by a court of defaming the President by describing him as a puppet and slavish in an article published in a party weekly last July. Leong, who was recently sentenced to one month’s gaol and fined about SNZ9OO for making statements likely to harm the Prime Minister, Lee Kuan Yew and has cab: net colleagues, was released on bail. He gave notice of appeal through his counsel.
