Oct. wetter, warmer
October in Christchurch was warmer, wetter and slightly sunnier than average, according to figures j supplied by the Meteorological Office at Christchurch Airport. There was a cool, sunless, wet spell from October 6 to 10, but the rest of the month was sunny. North-westerly : conditions prevailed through- ■ out the month, with gales on : October 12 and 31. The highest temperature, i of 25deg, was recorded on the last day of the month, I and the heaviest fall of rain •i occurred on October 7, when . 28mm fell. • The rainfall for the month ■was 73mm, compared with • 46mm in October last year, t and 203 hours of sunshine II were recorded.
