Sir, —So the Prime Minister has his hackles raised by information released by the Government Statistician and questions whether those figures should have been released. Understandably he has a different interpretation of those figures. The figures given by Mr Lewin and those by the Prime Minister give us no cause for complacency and show a failure to adequately grapple with inflation. What about a few figures from the Prime Minister showing the trends of 1961 and 1962? These figures will no doubt tell another story and show why this country slipped to fourteenth on the list of affluent nations. —Yours, etc., NOT IMPRESSED. November 3, 1972.
