Discovery in Antarctic
(Special Crspdt. N.Z.P.A.) SCOTT BASE, Nov. 2
A Canterbury University geographer has discovered “a beautiful beachful of history” in the Antarctic.
Mr W. Farrelly found the beach at Priapulus Point, 60 miles from Scott Base. It has been cut into terraces by centuries of glaciation. Using these terraces, he hopes to learn about the area, its sea level at various ages, and glacial movements over the years. Mr Farrelly will work in conjunction with a Canterbury University team which is making marine productivity studies at Cape Bird. He began his coastal geomorphology study last year working from Cape Bird.
