Appointment awaited
The man who has been managing-director of the International Wool Secretariat since 1969, and before that was secretary to the Federal Department of Primary Industry for seven years, Mr Alfred Maiden, aged 50, is expected to be appointed as the first chairman of the new Australian Wool Corporation being formed by the amalgamation of the Australian Wool Commission and the Australian Wool Board. The single organisation Will have over-all responsibility for policy making and marketing for Australia’s Wool industry. The Minister of Primary Industry (Mr lan Sinclair) is expected to announce Mr Maiden’s appointment within the next 48 hours, according to the Australian Broadcasting Commission.
