Sydney club to renew Carrington offer
(N.Z.P.A. Stag Correspondent) SYDNEY.
Undeterred by a report from Auckland that the All Black winger, K. R. Carrington, was not interested in switching codes, officials of the Parramatta Rugby League Club will press ahead with plans to entice Carrington to Sydney.
The club secretary, Mr R. Jones, said yesterday that while he was disappointed to hear of Carrington’s definite “No” to the league overtures, the club would invite him to
attend pre-season trials and matches next year. “We have had such good reports about Carrington from our contacts in Auckland, that we are keen to secure him,” Mr Jones said. “We will be in touch with our Auckland man shortly and will ask him to make an approach to Carrington.” Mr Jones said the club would have no difficulty in finding Carrington a job as a teacher in Parramatta.
Carrington has recently completed his Bachelor of Arts degree and plans to take up a teaching appointment next year.
