Successful two-day show concludes at Timaru

(From Our Own Reporter) TIMARU, November 1. The Timaru Agricultural and Pastoral Association’s show was in many respects a success. Expressing delight at the attendances on the second day, the secretary (Mr B. R. Malcolm) said this had been budgeted for. Higher admission charges, associated with the fact that a vintage car display and rodeo had proved to be a popular “swan song,” indicated that revenue would be not far short of that of last ydar (when SI 144 was received over two days). Gate takings in 1970 totalled $1276.

The champion beef animal, Shrimptons Hill Brigadoon, a 15-month-old yearling Hereford bull, weighing 12151 b, was bred and exhibited by Mr H. P. McKerchar, of Cannington. The yearling was sired by last year’s champion-of-cham-pions (Bushy Downs N 14) which was exhibited by Mr McKerchar's brother and show president, Mr A. L. McKerchar, and bred in the North Island by Mr M. P. Port.
