Games dollar sales increase
At 3 p.m. yesterday, 7500 Commonwealth Games commemorative dollars had been sold through the Bank of New Zealand’s branches and agencies in Christchurch.
In the bank’s main branch tn Cathedral Square, where a Commonwealth Games information centre has been established, -2500 coins had been sold, and 5000 had been sold in the bank’s other branches and agencies.

A spokesman for the bank (Mr H E. McAuley) said sales were greater yesterday than on Monday, when the campaign opened At the main branch. 1600 coins were sold before 3 p.m. yesterday, compared to 900 during the whole of Monday. Mr McAuley said business had been especially brisk between noon and 2 p.m. yesterday, but there had been a steady stream of buyers most of the day.
