Athlete injured
The New Zealand triple jump champion, K. G. Simpson (Toe H), was unable to compete in the first round of the Canterbury inter-club premiership contest at Rugby Park on Saturday. The previous week-end he injured his right foot while taking part in the long jump, one of the events counting towards the senior pentathlon. “I was a bit worried earlier in the week,” Simpson, who has a long history of minor injuries, said. However, he is now confident that the injury will not upset his preparation for the season and that he will be back in competition before long.
