INVERCARGILL, Oct. 31. The police are investigating the disappearance of a thoroughbred foal from the Blue Grass Stud, Wallacetown, in the early hours of Saturday. “It just seems to have disappeared into thin air,” said Mr T. H. Horrell, proprietor of the stud, today.
Trixeen, mother of the lost foal, is believed to have foaled to the imported English stallion, Creosote, between 3 a.m. and 5 a.m. on Saturday.
Mr Horrell was unable to find Trixeen’s foal at 5 a.m., after determining that she had given birth.
The police were called after a car’s tyre marks were noticed against a roadside fence along the foaling paddock.
Trixeen was examined on Saturday by a veterinarysurgeon who confirmed that the mare had foaled.
