Four Demons picked at Hastings today

Some consistent efforts by Four Demons point to his chances in the Teachers Whisky Handicap, the first leg of the T.A.B. concession double at Hastings today, when the Napier Park Racing Club will hold the first day of its spring meeting. Four Demons has not won this season but at his last i start was a useful fourth to Classico, Jack Johnson, and Tetrach’s Gift at Te Rapa. In his younger days, Four Demons was a particularly

promising galloper and one day soundly beat Trutone over 10 furlongs at Te Rapa in the intermediate grade. Last season, Four Demons was successful only once. This was at Te Aroha, while the year before he scored an all-the-way win at this meeting. Voli. Another well bred Matamata galloper in the field is the classy Father John. This stallion is a cups horse in (he making and if the track was easy he would be first choice. Father John won well at Te Aroha at his second-last start, but was a failure in his open debut at Ellerslie. He is worth another chance, as he Is good. Waikato and Hastings horses always have a monopoly at this meeting and of the Hastings hopes the best chance may be Oncide. She is working well and has her share of class. Astrella, a grand second at Waipukurau, must not be discarded despite a Trentham failure. She looks a better chance over a middle distance now. Gog won gamely at Waipukurau and must be given consideration, as must Mlnicort, which has been galloping keenly for some time. Richman is hard to foliow, but his latest efforts have been pleasing. The up-and-coming young star, Master Morgan, will give Lisa Gold plenty of opposition in the second leg, the Glenvale Stakes. Master Morgan will give the filly 81b, but this should prove no trouble to him as he is a topliner in the making. The only thing that could lead to his defeat is greenness. However, he took a hack double at Trentham so easily that it looks as though he is now going to gallop truly.
