Wanaka again delayed

WELLINGTON, Oct. 31. The roll-on roll-off ferry Wanaka. which was to have sailed for Lyttelton from Dunedin tonight, was delayed for the second time in two weeks when the seamen called a 72-hour stoppage. The stoppage is over pay for time off. A 48-hour stoppage two weeks ago in Lyttelton was for the same reason. After meetings today in Wellington with Seamen’s Union officials, a Union Steam Ship Company spokesman said the Wanaka was expected to sail tomorrow morning.
CANDIDATE. — A teacher at Nayland College, Nelson, Mr A. M. Stanton, aged 27, has been chosen as the Values Party’s Nelson candidate for the General Election. Mr Stanton, who teaches accounting and economics, graduated B.Sc. from Auckland University.—(P.A.),
