Students face punishment
(N.Z.P.A.-Reuter—Copyright) GLASGOW. Oct. 31
Disciplinary action has been taken against the 25 students who took part in a rowdy demonstration against the Queen when she visited Sterling University recently. The university’s disciplinary committee, which can impose sentences ranging from small fines to expulsion, comprises professors and lecturers, who sit with two student observers.
When the Queen visited the university, students, some swigging from bottles of beer and wine, hurled insults and obscenities.
A petition signed by 930 fellow-students later apologised to the Queen for the degrading and offensive behaviour of the demonstrators.
