Engineering appointment
Dr D. J. Hills, of California, has been appointed research officer (agricultural waste management) in the Agricultural Engineering Institute at Lincoln College. He graduated from the University of California, Davis, in 1968 with an M.Sc. Two years later he received his Ph.D. from the same university with a thesis on the treatment of waterborne waste through soil application.
He had earlier worked for the Department of Water Resources in California and as a chemist for the city’s engineering department. He was an instructor at the University of California’s engineering laboratory, and during 1968-70 was a graduate research engineer in sanitary engineering at the university. Dr Hills emigrated to New Zealand in October, 1970, and since then has been employed by the Wanganui City Council as an engineer.
